CICM Setia Alam Marathon 2013

Came in 8th Place, with time 1:36:50
Setia Alam has one of the very best and steady roads. Not so hilly quite gentle landscape.
The journey first takes through some newly built housing estates and leads us through some industrial area after 6km or so. Quite a pleasant marathon I must say. Most runners took their time no pressure what so ever.
Prizes were given to top 10 qualifiers while first top 5 received New Balance vouchers and 6-10 received small trophies.
Plenty of sponsors were there wile they gave Nasi Lemak, Bee Hoon, Watermelons and tons of variety of drinks. A very generous acts from these sponsors.
I'm quite happy for this race because it's well organized and people were very attentive to the racers.
Will attend the next one in 2014 for sure..
How's your running weekends?

Penang Bridge International Marathon, It was a good run How was yours?

My first try at the PBIM Half Marathon, must say it was a good and smooth run for me and many others. For me it was quite a gentle run and not too steep like the previous BSN marathon. Fueled my self one whole day before the race and did nothing but eat and sleep. Sounds like a slob eh? But it did worked out for me. Pure rest was most essential. Did my time at 1hr38mins But still waiting for my ranking today. ,must say I still had enough fuel to go further. Thanks to the goreng pisang and nasik kandar haha..
The day before the race we just had Nasi Kandar at 6am then found a hotel to crash in, woke up for lunch had rice at a tom yam store nearby, then had delicious Penang goreng pisang and had more sleep, woke up had rice at the same stall, had 2hours of sleep again and went of to Queens Bay at 12:30.
It was a 4.2km walk from our hotel to Queens Bay. But it was alright, much warmed uped before the race. And from there on waited on the starting line 1hour before Gun Time.
It was a cool rainy weather that morning and 47,000 people turned upped for this yearly event. I guess the whole of Penang turned upped for this race cuz after we saw everyone was wearing the marathon jerseys around town.
Looks like I'm planing for a full marathon in Penang next year. How was your weekend run?

With Seremban Pacers, Always bumped into them whenever there's a huge marathon going on. Good people very supportive and Positive!!

Essential fuel to keep you going for your marathon!

Simple stretching technics for post/ after run

It's important to do at least 15mins of stretching before a run.
Depends how long is your run maybe 20,30,40,60 or more. Stretching is essential to avoid future injuries.
Anywhere that you feel there's a muscle pull during a run, stop for a few mins do a 10-30sec stretch. Don't pull too hard just as long as you can feel the muscle loosen abit.
Enjoy your run!!

IRONMAN PUTRAJAYA AND IRONMAN LANGKAWI

Tempted but not ready for this annual heavy duty race! If anyone's up for it, share your story with me!

Salomon XTrail Run

Done with this gruesome race, a totally uphill road battle with very steep slopes in the end.
Nothing but pure climbing madness which test your endurance and uphill ability. First ever Trail run for me and totally looking forward to next years XTrail. Finished my time at 34mins

From the goody bags

Preparing for the Salomon XTrail Run in MAEPS Serdang tomorrow.  Stoked!!

Recovery Recovery Recovery

At first I was reluctant on these supplements, but after a year of training it seems I needed these, especially glucosamine tablets to help repair my joints and reduces pain.
Muscle repair is important and we must well take care of them to avoid future injuries.

BSN NIGHT MARATHON 2013

It was a tough race. Due to the rain the endless climbs but we made it as a team.
Must give my gratitude to these running folks. We started together and finished together and most importantly trained together. Looking forward to next years full marathon.
Our PBs were Nik (1:46) Lokman (1:45) Me (1:47) . And like usual, we didn't get the results we wanted but it's ok. There are more races to come. Most importantly we all enjoyed our runs. No.39. Out of 1795 ain't that bad right??

Nike Pegasus 29

My first Nike Pegasus 29.  Comfy for a half and full marathon. Must say it has the most comfy cushioning from most shoes I've tried ( ASICS gel lyte 33, NB RevV2, Nike Free 3).
The first time you try this shoe it's abit heavy and lose. You need at least a week before the shoe starts settling in with your feet. It's heavy at first but once you get used to it the shoe is just right for your feet.

Larian Sultan Mahmud Shah and SCKLM

A Back to Back Marathon in 2 different states Havnt done such thing before not even in KL itself. Well i was just aiming for a comfy pace and not to pressure to much cuz I had to cover 32km in 2days right.

At Sultan Mahmud Bridge Marathon. The environment was welcoming, mostly athletes from gov forces or the normal public. Luckily the weather was cool and not so windy as we went along Batu Burok bridge you could see the beautiful ocean and it's sands, we passed through the small towns and a small hilly climb in between, the first 10km you would go on the Sultan Mahmud Bridge and make a turn back to Batu Burok...
Of all times my knee had to make problems for me. It was stuck at 11km. So I tried to stretch then of abit and continued this for 200 meters or so. Luckily I got back to my comfortable pace in no time.
It was a good run, and my PB was 1:41hrs.

Standard Chartered KL Marathon
Just after the Sultan Mahmud Marathon in Terengganu I took a night flight back to KL.
With delays cuz of the bad weather I had to be stuck in the airport for another hour.
When I arrived in KL it was 12:30am, took a quick rice n chicken dinner before heading to sleep.
Managed to only get 2hrs of total sleep. Then off I went...
Luckily it was a 10km cruise. So not much pressure there. But there were also fast pacers too... The 1st leading was around 40mins not mistaken. I came in 8th place with 47mins. The most sleepy race I ever went haha... Well I could do better but my body was telling me to get some rest.
It was a good run, looking forward to do my half for KL marathon in 2014!

Tuesday 1 October 2013

National Kidney Run iCity Shah Alam 10km

This was so far my best race, I didn't expect to get my pace at 40min for 10km,
Finished in 4th... Not bad. Stay motivated!

Seremban Half Marathon

This race was in July.  After a serious hamstring injury. I couldn't do any sprints. A few trips to the physio and icing for a month. The pain was horrible. And I could only do easy jogs at a pace of 7 max.
Luckily the recovery was in a month...
Right before the Seremban half I had to step on a Bee which left my left foot swollen and had bee allergies which attacked my whole body. Yeah what a thing to happen right before the night of the race. Well.... I was contemplating on the day before the race ( which was a Saturday night) wether I should just run or take a rest, Cuz my foot was swollen I couldn't event fit into my shoe.
Yup. Like every addicted runner, we just did it.
I arrived at the Seremban town 2hours before start ( 6:30am) . I did a lot of stretching easy strides for at least an hour...
I managed to finish the race at 1:51hrs. While dragging my left foot. Haha. It was a miracle that after the race that my foot healed. Yeah so running cures everything.
So u know now what to do if u feel sick or unmotivated, Take a RUN!

Mizuno Wave 16Km Putrajaya

This was my 2nd Marathon in June 2013. And it was a real race this time. You could see those who are fit and have absolute determination in their eyes. From athletes to Average daily pacers, you could see them all. Everyone determind to get their best PB.
It was tough with the humidity from the roads, the pounding soles onto the tar and the 6 dreadful climbs of the Putrajaya bridge (3 go and 3returns)
My pace was at 1:18 this time. I think my position was only 51 at that time.

First Marathon

My First Marathon was in March 2013. A Kidney Foundation Fun Run. It was only 7km. Excited like every other race. My PB was at 37mins +/- . I guess it wasn't bad for a first timer. But the adrenaline was pumping during the start till the finish.

First time for everything

A brief introduction of myself.
An average pacer, who loves to run daily, breathes, sleep, eat  for the passion for running.
It took sometime to get to a comfortable pace. But when the ball starts rolling you will feel the joy of it.
